Yes, according to my research, it was always run on the first Wednesday in June and that particular year it was run on Wednesday 1st June.
The race was won by
April the Fifth (the day he was born)
ridden by Fred Lane and owned and trained by T. Walls
He was the last horse to win to date that was trained at Epsom.
One year later in 1933 the great Hyperion stormed home and went on to become a phenominal sire of thoroughbred horses.

I can only reiterate the answer above, as the Derby was always the first Wednesday in June and I've been once since it changed. Even the Queen was against it.
